...and a happy new year

By Patrick J. B. Simmons

All over the world, it’s a new year – 2009 is upon us, and 2008 is, for better or worse, dead. Happy New Year everybody! May the year ahead be full of good stuff, including, but not limited to: good friends, desu, God’s blessings, good movies, gainful employment (or fantastic retirement), delicious cake, desu, new ideas, dancing in the moonlight, moar desu, and successful resolutions.

We’ve got a couple dandy new things here on Alternative-Internet.com to check out, if you haven’t already: posted just a short while ago, in December – Mike Little’s review of The End is Not the End by House of Heroes; posted on the Eve of the New Year, The Galactic Misfortune – the latest instalment (number nine) in Alexander Kecskes’ Beyond Horizon series; and finally, posted last night, my review of Off with Their Heads, by the Kaiser Chiefs.

So go check out all the cool new stuff!

As a last lil’ note: it occurred to me yesterday, as the new year sunk in (with it’s usual lack of effect on me), that Alternative-Internet.com has been around, in some form, since November of 2003 (back then we were hosted by a now-defunct free hosting service, and the site was designed in Microsoft Word) – check it out:
The Earliest Copy of the Home Page I Could Find – Circa 2004
The Guestbook – With Posts from 2003 to 2004
The Second Version of The Main Page – 2004
The Third Version – With Sidebar – Still 2004
The 2005 Announcement – We Moved

That’s right: Alternative-Internet.com has been around for over five years now. Look at how far we’ve come, too. Pretty neat. At least, I thought so. Here’s to a great new year for all, and another great five for Alternative-Internet.com!
